Seven killed, 20 injured in fire after blast in Nagaland

Seven persons were killed and 20 others injured in a fire which broke out after a bomb blast at a gun shop in Wokha town of Nagaland on Tuesday, police said.

Kohima: Seven persons were killed and 20 others injured in a fire which broke out after a bomb blast at a gun shop in Wokha town of Nagaland on Tuesday, police said.

The blast occurred at around 11.30 am from a gun shop while the fire turned ravaging with the blast of gas cylinders, they said.

Seven persons, including a four-month-old girl, a 5-year-old boy, two women and three men were charred to death while 20 others were injured and properties worth almost Rs one crore damaged in the inferno, they said.

The fire engulfed some commercial and residential buildings in Wokha Town, some 76 km from the state capital, police said.

Fire fighters from the Fire and Emergency Services, security forces and neighbours managed to douse the fire after several hours of fire fighting at around 4.30 pm.

Police has registered the case and investigation is on to find the actual cause behind the incident.
