State conference of Tripura CPI(M) begins tomorrow

The three-day state conference of CPI-M's Tripura unit will begin here on Wednesday and would be inaugurated by party General Secretary Prakash Karat.

Agartala: The three-day state conference of CPI-M's Tripura unit will begin here on Wednesday and would be inaugurated by party General Secretary Prakash Karat.

"Our general Secretary Prakash Karat would inaugurate the state conference and other party politburo members, Manik Sarkar, Brinda Karat, and Biman Bose would address the open session of the party here tomorrow," State Secretary and party's central committee member Bijan Dhar said.

He said out of the total 87,691 party members in the state, 577 delegates would participate in the conference and ten members would remain as observers.

The conference would discuss issues like effects of liberal economy in public life, ill effects of communalism and secessionism and reduction of MGNREGA work etc.

Dhar said since the last conference held in January 2012, 707 party members were expelled from the party for anti-party activities and 7,092 party members did not renew their party membership for different causes like old age, retirement etc.
