Agartala: Acclaimed physicist and former
Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC), Prof Yash Pal today said the teachers should act as proper guides of the students to show the way into the realm of knowledge.

"Teachers should not get tuned into courier service. A
syllabus is framed by the educational board and teachers start
inputting the contents into the students` brain. It is not
sufficient. They would act as proper guides of the students to
show the way into the realm of knowledge," he told reporters
during an interaction.

Paul, came here on Monday and addressed a seminar on
"Capacity building of students in Higher Education" here
yesterday.

He also said India has to bring ideas and designs from
abroad despite becoming expertise in several sectors.
"This is necessary due to stark deficit of new ideas in
the educational sector. Curriculum has to be universal but
syllabi have to be framed based on local standards," he said.
