Thousands visit Dalai Lama at Tashiding monastery

A large number of people gathered on Thursday in the Tashiding monastery complex to have a glimpse of the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama.

Gangtok: A large number of people gathered on Thursday in the Tashiding monastery complex to have a glimpse of the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama.

After his morning prayers the Dalai Lama emerged and gave an impromptu public address for the large number of people, who had come to monastery complex to have a glimpse of him and his blessing.

The Tibetan spiritual leader had arrived in Sikkim yesterday in a eight day visit.

On December 18, the Dalai Lama would travel to Rabongla in South Sikkim and on December 19 he will go to Gangtok and stay there.

He will leave for Dharamsala on December 22.

The Sikkim government has already banned slaughter of animals all over the state during the stay of the Dalai Lama.
