Three militants arrested by police commandos in Manipur

Three militants have been arrested during separate search operations in Imphal east and Imphal west districts of Manipur, police said on Sunday.

Imphal: Three militants have been arrested during separate search operations in Imphal east and Imphal west districts of Manipur, police said on Sunday.

Acting on information that some militants were roaming in the twin districts, police commandos launched search operations at Bamon Leikai and Sawombung area in Imphal east district on Friday evening and arrested two militants of Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council (KCP-MC), sources said.

The two were identified as Usham Sanjit Singh alias Nanao (29) and Wairokpam Bishwanath Singh (27), sources said adding that a militant of Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) identified as Paoshim Keishing (27) was arrested on the same day from Mantripukhri area in Imphal west district.

Some underground materials including mobile phones have been seized from the possession of the three who are now being interrogated, sources said.

Over 210 militants of different outfits have so far been arrested during different combing operations in Manipur this year.
