Three NDFB(D) militants killed in encounter in Assam

Three NDFB(D) militants were killed in separate encounters in Assam on Thursday and a suspected camp of the banned outfit busted, while two of its cadres surrendered, official sources said.

Tezpur: Three NDFB(D) militants were killed in separate encounters in Assam on Thursday and a suspected camp of the banned outfit busted, while two of its cadres
surrendered, official sources said.

A National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Ranjan Daimary) insurgent was killed during an encounter with police in Sonitpur district along the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh,
the sources said.

At Akhabari in Udalguri district, another NDFB ultra was gunned down when he exchanged fire with the army. An AK-47 rifle, a pistol, explosives and documents were recovered from him, they said.
During operations by the army`s Red Horns division, yet another NDFB militant was killed and a camp suspected to be of the underground group was busted at Mazbat in Sonitpur district on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, Defence sources said.

All the three slain rebels were yet to be identified, the sources added.

Meanwhile, two NDFB extremists - Saroda Basumatary and Amit Basumatary - surrendered before police at Rangapara in Sonitpur district and deposited a pistol with ammunition.
