Three new bills introduced in Sikkim Assembly

 Three new bills were on Friday introduced in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly.

Gangtok: Three new bills were on Friday introduced in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly.

The three bills are - Sikkim Agricultural, Horticulture input and Livestock Feed Regulatory Bill, Sikkim Determination of Lease Bill and Sikkim Anatomy Bill.

Somnath Poudyal, Minister-in-Charge of Food Security, Agriculture Development and Horticulture and Cash Crops Development department introduced the Sikkim Agricultural, Horticultural input and Livestock Feed Regulatory bill to regulate, sale, distribution and use of inorganic agricultural inputs and livestock feed to prevent risk to human beings or animals and environment.

Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, who is also the Minister-in-Charge of Land Revenue and Disaster Management Department introduced the Sikkim Determination of Lease Bill to determine the period of lease or terminate or cancel the lease executed between the State Government or its undertaking and a company or any other person or entity claiming through or under it in public interest if the land which was taken on lease has remained unutilized for the purpose for which it was taken.

The bill states that the implementation of the project on the land taken on lease is or was part of a litigation for non-implementation of the project for which land was taken on lease, notwithstanding anything contained to the contrary, in the lease deed.

A K Ghatani, Minister-in-charge of Health Care, Human Services and Family Welfare introduced the Sikkim Anatomy Bill. The bill has been introduced to enact legislation with a view to provide for the supply of unclaimed bodies of deceased person to hospital and medical and teaching institutions.

At present, Cadavers are being brought from outside the state.

Discussion and voting of these Bills will be taken up on the second day.
