Train derails in Sonitpur, Railways say its `sabotage`

Four persons were injured when three coaches of the Arunachal Express derailed in Sonitpur district on Friday, which the railways claimed was due to "sabotage".

three coaches of the Arunachal Express derailed in Sonitpur
district on Friday, which the railways claimed was due to
"sabotage".

"The prima-facie cause of the accident was suspected
sabotage as two rail joints (right side of track), 12 metre
rail and fish plate-fish bolt were found missing," North East
Frontier railway`s spokesperson S Hajong said.

The 761 up Rangapara-Murkongselek Arunachal Express
which runs on the metre gauge section of Rangiya division,
left Rangapara at 6.45 AM met with an accident soon after
leaving Gohpur at 10.30 AM, he said.

The train engine along with three coaches derailed.
The emergency accident relief trains along with senior
officials and doctors reached the site at 3.55 PM.

Repair work was on and train movement in the section
will be resumed soon, officials said
Earlier, District Superintendent of Police A P Tiwari
had ruled out involvement of militants in the incident.
