Two labourers shot dead, grenade attack at petrol depot

Suspected Garo militants Wednesday shot dead two coal labourers and hurled a grenade at a petrol pump in Meghalaya`s South Garo Hills district.

The two labourers Nazrul Islam and Kuku Boro working
at separate coal quarries at Nangalbibra were killed early
this morning, a top police official said.
In another incident, militants lobbed two grenades at a
petrol depot, not far from the coal quarries. One of them
exploded, but there was no casualty or damage, he said.
The nascent Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), blamed
for rampant extortion a number of abductions, is suspected to
be behind the attacks.
