Itanagar: National Democratic Front of
Bodoland (NDFB) militant H Basumatari allegedly involved in
Guwahati blasts and in many other cases has been detained at
Ziro in Arunchal Pradesh by a CBI team today, police sources
said.
A three-member CBI team was on the look out for the
25-year-old fugitive and with the help of the local police
kept a tab on Basumatari, who was staying at a rented house
with a woman at Ziro, the headquarters of Lower Subansiri
district, the sources said.
Yesterday Basumatari and the woman got scent of the
police move and fled. The police team then arrested one person
who helped them in escaping. The arrested person led the
police team to the place where the couple was hiding and gave
the cell phone number of Basumatari.

The police team after locating the couple on a road
around 6 pm contacted Basumatari on the cell phone and asked
him to surrender as he was encircled. Basumatari then
surrendered, they said.

According to the local police they received a
confidential message from CBI New Delhi about the presence of
Basumatari in Ziro and the local police helped the CBI team in
apprehending Basumatari, wanted in various serious cases.
