10 killed, 8 injured as lightning strikes in Ganja
At least ten persons were killed and eight others were injured after being struck by lightning in Orissa, official sources said here today.

killed and eight others were injured after being struck by
lightning in Orissa, official sources said here today.
Several places in the state were lashed by heavy rains
accompanied by gale and lightning last evening. Many of the
victims were working in the field when lightning struck them,
the sources said.
Two women died in Purushottampur block while another was
killed in Chikti block of Ganjam district due to lightning
strike when they were working in their paddy fields.
Lightning struck a Middle English school at Barkot in
Deogarh district while the students were having their
One student, Dharmendra Khillar (12) died on the spot
while another was seriously injured and is being treated at
district headquarters hospital.
At Badabahal in the same district one Deepak Behera died
while working in the paddy field.
In Kendrapara district, a farmer of Nagapatana village
died while in Sundargarh district one person of Injirikela
village also died when lightning hit them.

Around seven people were injured in Jajpur, Kendrapara
and Sundargarh districts, the sources added.
