Rourkela (Odisha): A 17-year-old school
girl has been raped at Udusu village in Sundargarh district,
about 30 km from here, triggering an outcry followed by the
arrest of nine minor boys, police said today.
The 10th standard girl, along with one of her friends,
was on way to her brother-in-law`s house at nearby
Changjharana village on Thursday evening.
On the way two minor boys joined them on pretext of
escorting them.
Seven other boys of Changjharana too joined them later
and attempted to molest one girl, the Inspector In-Charge of
Bisra police station, Subodh Mallick said.
As another girl, who was accompanying the victim ran
away, one of the boys allegedly raped her in presence of
others, Mallick said.
All the arrested were aged around 17 years. Three of
them were school students, one college student and five others
were daily labourers.
The arrests were made after the father of the girl
filed a complaint with police yesterday.
