Bhubaneswar: A police inspector, who had
escaped from custody after being arrested for allegedly
molesting a minor girl on a train, was nabbed on Sunday while two
constables were suspended for the lapse.
Santosh Mallick, Inspector, CID-Special Branch, who
was arrested for molesting a nine-year-old girl on Howrah-Puri
Jagannath Express, gave a slip last night after getting down
from police van in front of Jharapada special jail here,
police said.
Mallick was later arrested from Laxmi Sagar area of
the state capital this morning, Superintendent of Police
(Railway) Bhagyadhara Behera said.
Two railway police constables, escorting the accused
to the high-security jail, were suspended for dereliction of
duty, Behera said.
He molested the girl yesterday in an inebriated state,
police said.
