Vital file containing correspondence and orders since 1992 which has gone missing from the state secretariat

Cuttack: An additional affidavit has been filed on a vital file containing correspondence and orders since 1992 which has gone missing from the state secretariat, to the PIL seeking a CBI inquiry into the alleged mining scam in Orissa unearthed two years ago.

“The file contains details of grant of lease for mining manganese ore in favour of S N Dasmohapatra who runs a privately owned mine.

Rini Rath the petitioner in the fresh affidavit has alleged that the vigilance department has allowed the file to be either misplaced or destroyed to protect political leaders and top bureaucrats involved in the scam.
When the vigilance was probing the case for the last one year, the petitioner questioned why such an important file was not seized and reiterated the plea to handover the case to CBI.

The matter is likely to come up for hearing on Monday.
