Another blackbuck death in Orissa

Forest department officials has recovered the carcass of a blackbuck near Mathura road in Khallikote forest range in Orissa`s Ganjam district, about 45 km from here.

Berhampur (Orissa): Forest department officials has recovered the carcass of a blackbuck near Mathura road in Khallikote forest range in Orissa`s Ganjam
district, about 45 km from here.

The carcass was recovered last night and forest
officials suspected that the animal had died in an accident.

This was the death of a second blackbuck within a span
of two days in the district.

A week-old blackbuck calf died in the custody of the
forest officials at Aska on Thursday after being rescued from
the roadside by a person.

Forest department sources said over 1670 blackbucks are
moving around in Bhetanai-Balipadar area, comprising 70
villages of Aska, Buguda, Polasara, Khallikote and Kabisurya
Nagar forest ranges in the district.

The animals often face accidents when they come to the
road, forest ranger, Aska, N C Dora said.
