Binapani Mohanty to get prestigious Sarala Award-2010

Bhubaneswar: Eminent writer in Oriya, Binapani Mohanty was named as the winner of the prestigious Sarala Award for her book Apahancha Akasha (Unreachable Sky) and overall literary achievements.

Mohanty will be the 31st winner of the literary award. She will receive a cash award of Rs.2.5 lakh and a citation, the Sarala Award committee said after a meeting here last evening.

Noted vocalist Md. Sikandar Alam and social worker Jayant Kumar Behera were also named and would receive a cash award of Rs 51,000 each and citations.

The awards would be given at a special function scheduled to be held on June 14 at Jayadev Bhawan here.

The annual Sarala Award was instituted in 1978 by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust(IMPaCT) of IMFA Group.
