Bhubaneswar: A day after Orissa government moved to Supreme Court against the controversial Polavaram project in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, ruling BJD on Sunday said it would hold a rally in Malkangiri saying the project would submerge several villages in the district.
Accusing the Centre of adopting a discriminatory approach towards Orissa, senior BJD leader and MP, Pyari Mohan Mohapatra, said the proposed rally was part of efforts to make people aware of the dangers posed by the Polavaram project.
The state government yesterday moved the Supreme Court seeking quashing of clearance granted by Union Ministry of Environment and Forests to Polavaram project, which it fears would inundate several parts of the state.
