BJD wins yet another ULB
The ruling BJD won yet another Urban Local Body (ULB) polls by capturing Vyasnagar municipality, the vote counting of which was done on Saturday.
Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD won yet another Urban Local Body (ULB) polls by capturing Vyasnagar municipality, the vote counting of which was done on Saturday.
The BJD candidates won in 16 of 26 wards in the lone urban body where re-polling was conducted in two booths on Friday. Congress candidate got elected in nine wards while one ward fell in the hands of an independent candidate.
BJP failed to secure any of the 26 wards at Vyasanagar Municipality.
The ruling party BJD which obtained a clear majority in 42 municipalities and NACs has cleared the deck to form council in Vyasnagar Municipality too.
The election date was rescheduled for booth no 32 and 33 of ward no 20 in Vyasnagar on the day of general polling following technical snag in EVMs.
However polling was conducted in other wards of the town on September 19. The State Election Commission (SEC) decided to conduct the counting of votes a day after the general counting.
