BJP team to visit Posco’s Orissa plant area today

BJP on Sunday said its five-member central team would visit Posco`s proposed plant site.

Bhubaneswar: Raising doubts over the Orissa government`s "peaceful industrialisation" policy, BJP on Sunday said its five-member central team would visit Kalinga Nagar industrial complex and Posco`s proposed plant site area on Monday.

The BJP central team comprising party`s national
secretary Bhupinder Yadav, Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dube, Rajya
Sabha member Balbir Punj, Rudra Narayan Pani and Dharmendra
Pradhan were scheduled to visit the areas, said party`s state
unit vice-president Ashok Sahu.

The central team members will first visit Kalinga
Nagar industrial complex where one tribal was allegedly killed
in police firing on May 12 and then meet victims of police
atrocities in Posco`s proposed plant site area, Sahu said.

Stating that the central team would submit its report
with leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and
party`s leader in RS Arun Jaitley, Sahu strongly condemned the
state government`s policy.

"The police resorted to lathi charge, lobbed tear gas
and opened rubber bullets on the anti-Posco agitators barely
some minutes after chief minister asking people not to indulge
in violence," Sahu said.
