College teacher suspended in Pattamundai for campaigning

Kendrapara (Odisha): A college teacher of a government-aided higher educational institution was today placed under suspension for violating the Model Code of Conduct by campaigning for the BJD candidate in Pattamundai Assembly segment in the district, official sources said.

The accused Sridhar Behera, posted in Pattamundai Women`s College faced charge of canvassing for the ruling party. The allegations were probed by an inquiring committee constituted by the district election office.
As the authorities found corroborative evidence pertaining to the charges, the erring college teacher was suspended for flouting the Model Code of Conduct, District Collector, Kendrapara, Nitin Bhanudas Jawale said.

Earlier last week, a junior clerk of a government-run high school was also suspended on similar charge.
Inquiry was pending against some other government employees with regard to violation of Model Code of Conduct. Probe has been ordered to ascertain the veracity of the allegations leveled against them.

If they are found guilty, they would also be placed under suspension, he said.
