Bhubaneswar: Two civil rights
organisations on Thursday lodged complaints with the police over
alleged misuse of discretionary quota in availing government
accommodation by Odisha`s Law minister Bikram Keshari Arukh.
"We have received two written complaints. But no case
has been registered yet. Police will thoroughly examine the
complaints," DCP Nitinjit Singh said.
The names of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Higher
Education minister Badri Narayan Patra, who was earlier the
urban development minister, also figured in the complaint
for allegedly helping Arukh in availing two government houses
on discretionary quotas.
While the chief minister and Arukh were not available
for comment, Patra said "I am not aware about it. I have not
done any illegality during my tenure as the urban development
minister."
One complaint was lodged by Save Odisha Forum and the
other by Puri-based Sachetan Nagarika Manch.
The chief minister has said that he was seriously
looking into alleged misuse of discretionary quotas.
