Patnaik and two ministers for their alleged involvement in the
irregularities worth Rs 125 crore.
Congress workers, under the banner of Youth Congress,
staged an agitation before the Raj Bhavan here demanding an
immediate resignation of the school and mass education
minister Pratap Jena and the urban and housing minister Badri
Narayan Patra for their alleged role in the coal scam.
Congress activists had a brief scuffle with the
security personnel when the former attempted to gate crash
into the Raj Bhavan.
In a memorandum submitted to Governor M C Bhandare,
Youth Congress led by its president Pradip Kumar Majhi, argued that a neutral investigation could not be held until the two ministers resign from their posts.
Rejecting the vigilance probe ordered by the state
government, Majhi said that they would extend their agitation
to the panchayat level until the ministers resigned.
The party men`s agitation was organised when the
Congress MLAs continued to sit on dharna in front of Mahatma
Gandhi`s statue in the Assembly premises.
Congress and BJP MLAs boycotted the Assembly demanding
removal of two ministers allegedly involved in the scam when
they were chairmen of the state-owned Orissa Small Industries
Corporation (OSIC) that supplied subsidised coal to small
