Bhubaneswar: In a scathing attack on the BJD government in Odisha, new state Congress President Prasad Harichandan on Sunday said that corruption has spread from top to bottom during its 14-year rule.

"Corruption is rampant during the BJD rule for the last 14 years in Odisha. There is a tainted government as corruption has spread top to bottom," Harichandan, who took charge as Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President today, said.

Contending that people of the state are fed up with the tainted regime, Harichandan said Congress would rejuvenate itself and hit the streets with vigour to rescue the state and its people from the clutches of corruption.

Maintaining that all partymen are now together and united, he said Congress would prepare itself to win back the confidence and faith of the people.

The party leaders and workers would work sincerely to strengthen Congress at grassroots level to enable it to meet the aspirations of the people, Harichandan said.

A host of senior leaders including AICC's Odisha in- charge B K Hariprasad attended the function where Prasad formally took over reins.

The foundation day of the party was also celebrated at 'Congress Bhawan' here.

Harichandan also held discussions with party leaders as part of efforts to chalk out the future course of action.

The new PCC chief said there will be consultation with senior leaders of the party to decide on the issues to be taken up next year.

The party would work out a roadmap after obtaining the suggestions and views of senior leaders, he said.
