Dress code for Orissa teachers from Sept 15

Teachers in all state-run elementary and upper primary schools in Orissa will have a dress code from September 15.



Bhubaneswar: Teachers in all state-run
elementary and upper primary schools in Orissa will have a
dress code from September 15.

"Teachers, both male and female, will be wearing
uniform from September 15. A circular in this direction has
been issued," said School and Mass Education Secretary
Aparajita Sarangi.

According to the circular, male teachers would wear
black pants and sky blue shirts, while their woman
counterparts have been instructed to don pink saris and black
blouses.

"There is a relaxation for male teachers who are used
to wear dhotis and female teachers donning salwar kurtas. They
can continue with their dress, but in the prescribed colours,"
she said.

The government made the dress code mandatory for
teachers after it was liked by the teaching fraternity in
three places like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur, she
said.

The state have about 56,000 elementary and upper
primary schools where 1.60 lakh teachers are employed.
