Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall coupled with gusty surface wind is likely to lash some places of interior and coastal Odisha till Friday due to a low pressure which triggered rains in several areas during last couple of days.

Rain and thundershower is likely to occur at most places of Odisha under the impact of the low pressure area over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast, the MeT office said here today.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at one or two places over interior Odisha and heavy rainfall at one or two places over coastal Odisha during the next 24 hours, it said.

Under its influence, gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph and gusting to 60 kmph will prevail along and off Odisha Coast, the MeT office said, adding fishermen are advised not to venture into sea.

Several parts of the state including the capital city of Bhubaneswar have been experiencing rainfall during the last couple of days due to formation of a series of low pressure areas in the region.

The port town of Gopalpur received 71.4 mm rainfall during the day, it said.
