Heavy to very heavy rains coupled with squally surface wind are likely to lash many parts of Odisha till Wednesday under the impact of a depression over the Bay of Bengal.

Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rains coupled with squally surface wind are likely to lash many parts of Odisha till Wednesday under the impact of a depression over the Bay of Bengal.

The depression over the Northeast Bay of Bengal is likely to remain practically stationary and may concentrate into a deep depression in the next 48 hours, the meteorological centre said here today.

Under its influence, rain and thundershower would occur in most places in the state.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall in some places with extremely heavy fall in one or two places in the northern part of the state and heavy to very heavy rainfall in one or two places in southern part would occur in the next 24 hours, it said.

In view of the weather condition, Local Cautionary Signal Number-Three (LC-III) has been kept hoisted in all ports of the state.

Squally surface wind with speed reaching 45 to 50 kmph and gusting upto 60 kmph would prevail along and off Odisha coast. The sea condition would be rough to very rough and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, the MeT office said.
