Inspector transferred after Maoist sympathisers escape

An inspector-in-charge of Sundargarh district was transfered and two constables placed under suspension on Sunday following escape of two Maoist sympathisers from police custody.

Rourkela: An inspector-in-charge of
Sundargarh district was transfered and two constables placed
under suspension on Sunday following escape of two Maoist
sympathisers from police custody.

Two Maoist sympathisers, identified as Mohammed Afzal
Ansari (35) and Mohammed Aslam Ansari (31) of Bisra, managed
to escape from Lahunipara police station earlier in the day.

They were arrested yesterday in the highway robbery
case in which the Maoists had allegedly looted Rs 49 lakh from
Bonai subdivision on August 16, when the money was in transit
to a bank.

Another Maoist sympathiser Sandip Munda of K Balang,
however, could not escape, police said.

Inspector-in-charge Subash Raiguru was transferred
while two constables, Pradip Agasti and Basanta Patra, were
placed under suspension for dereliction of duty.
