Baripada: Charging the BJD government in Odisha with neglecting students, the JMM on Tuesday alleged that the Naveen Patnaik government was not sincere in fulfilling their demands.
At a rally in tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj in which a large number of students participated, JMM Odisha unit president Sudam Marandi also alleged that the state government was neglecting the ST and SC community in the district.
He said that the North Orissa University was yet to gain its full potential because of the alleged step-motherly attitude of the state government.
Tribal students were forced to pursue self-financing PG courses in Tribal studies and the Odia language in absence of regular courses for which hefty fees were charged, Marandi said.
Slamming the government for making caste certificates valid for only six months only, Marandi urged students to fight for a government medical college for the people of Mayurbhanj.
