Cuttack: The catholic nun who was
allegedly raped during the Kandhamal riots of 2008 approached
the Orissa High Court once again today seeking a deferment of
trial proceedings in the Cuttack district and sessions court
here.

The nun was given a last chance by the Cuttack court
to appear before it on September 23 and 24 to record her
statements.

The court had also warned of coercive actions against
her if she fails to turn up in the court this time as she had
defied the summons thrice earlier.

The Cuttack court has been holding trail in the case
since July this year following the High Court order.

Despite getting summons on three earlier occasions,
the nun was avoiding the court citing illness.

But during this period she had participated in a test
identification (TI) parade here at Choudwar jail, just two
days before she was to appear in the court.

Earlier, the nun had approached the HC through a writ
petition seeking to shift all her cases pertaining to August
2008 riots to the courts of Cuttack.

This petition however, is still pending disposal.
