Maoist killed in Orissa encounter

Koraput: A Maoist was on Friday killed in an exchange of fire with security force in Orissa`s Koraput district, police said here.

The exchange of fire took place during a combing operation by the elite anti-naxal Special Operation Group in Bijaghati in Narayanpatna area, about 80 km from here, Deputy Superintendent of Police YJ Rao said.

The body of a Maoist was recovered after the encounter, while the others managed to escape, he said.
A rifle and 25 kit bags were also found from the spot. A combing operation has been launched to nab the other Maoists, Rao said.
