Bail application of Maoist Sriramulu Srinivasalu, one of the ultras whose release had been demanded by abductors of Malkangiri district Collector RV Krishna, was rejected by a local court on Monday.

Malkangiri (Orissa): Bail application of
Maoist Sriramulu Srinivasalu, one of the ultras whose release
had been demanded by abductors of Malkangiri district
Collector RV Krishna, was rejected by a local court on Monday.

Additional District Judge MS Dhal rejected the bail
plea of Srinivasalu, who had a week ago been granted bail by a
Fast Track Court here in connection with another case, his
lawyer RP Patnaik said.

The ultra continued to remain in jail in connection
with the present case involving attack on policemen, he said.

The Maoist leader, who was arrested in July 2007 from
Bariguda forest in Kalimela area of Malkangiri district, was a
former chief of Revolutionary Writers Association.

He had been lodged in Malkangiri jail except for a few
months when he was taken to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh in
connection with some cases against him there.

The district collector and junior engineer Pabitra
Majhi, who had been abducted on February 16 from Chitrakonda
area, were released last week.
