Maoists gun down trader in Orissa

Maoist ultras gunned down a trader, believed to have been opposing the naxal backed Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS), in Orissa`s Koraput district on Wednesday, the police said.

The trader, identified as Mandia Sahu Loknath (45),
was sitting outside his house at Nimlabadi under Bandhugaon
police station area, about 100 km from here, when two ultras
shot at him from close range, they said.

Though the exact reason behind the killing was yet to
be ascertained, the trader was believed to have been targeted
because of his opposition to the activities of CMAS in several
areas of the district, sources said.
A combing operation has been launched to nab the
rebels and patrolling intensified by the security forces
in the area.
