Monsoon hits Orissa

The much-awaited monsoon on Monday hit the Orissa coast and conditions are favourable for further advancement of the system, official sources said.

Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited monsoon on Monday hit the Orissa coast and conditions are favourable for further advancement of the system, official sources said.
"The south-west Monsoon has advanced on Monday, the 13th
June, 2011 into some parts of south coastal districts of
Orissa," said Director of local branch of the India
Meteriological Department (IMD) S Sahu.

Stating that the conditions are favorable for further
advancement of south-west monsoon into remaining parts of the
state during the next two-three days, Sahu said the Northern
Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Porbandar, Veraval,
Dahanu, Nasik, Gulbarga, Rentachintala, Kalingapatnam, Puri
and Dhubri and Gangtok.
