Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday did not celebrated his birthday in view of the devastation caused by cyclone Hudhud which left three persons dead and hundreds homeless in the state.
As usual, Patnaik attended office at the secretariat and wrote a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking an interim assistance of Rs 500 crore for the cyclone.
According to the earlier announcement, no one visited his residence during the day to wish him.
Patnaik had taken a similar decision last year as well because his birthday was preceded by Cyclone Phailin that had caused extensive damage to Ganjam, his home district. Patnaik was born on October 16, 1946 at Cuttack.
