Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said his party will not support the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the centre.

"The BJD will not support the Congress, it will certainly not support the Congress," Patnaik told reporters.

Media reports on Sunday quoted senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha member Pyari Mohan Mohapatra as saying that the party could examine a proposal to extend support to the UPA in the wake of the DMK`s decision to pull out from the cabinet and extend only an "issue-based" support.
The BJD has 14 members in the Lok Sabha.
