New Delhi: An NCP youth wing leader, evading police in connection with a case of allegedly shooting at a municipal councillor in Orissa two months ago, was arrested in the national capital, police said on Wednesday.
Raj Kumar Yadav, a resident of Rourkela, was apprehended from a DDA Flat in south Delhi`s Shahpur Jat on January 15.
Yadav had business rivalry with area councillor Ashish Mohanty and his partners and allegedly gave a contract to a gangster Karan Singh to kill them.
Singh and his associates allegedly opened fire at Mohanty and others, leaving Mohanty and his partner Rajesh Tewari wounded.
Yadav fled Orissa after the incident went into hiding.
"Yadav is active in politics and held the post of National General Secretary in Nationalist Youth Congress and National President of Pragatishil Yadav Morcha," Arun Kampani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), said.
He is also the Executive Committee Member of Rourkela Goods Transport Association and Life Member of Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
