No work, no pay for striking medicos on April 18: Orissa Govt

Two days after the doctors called off their strike in Orissa, the state government today threatened to implement `no work, no pay` formula for medicos who participated in the agitation on April 18.

Bhubaneswar: Two days after the doctors
called off their strike in Orissa, the state government today
threatened to implement `no work, no pay` formula for medicos
who participated in the agitation on April 18.

"The doctors who joined the strike will not be paid
for one day," Health Secretary (in-charge) Suresh Mohapatra
said.

Pointing out that the doctors were earlier asked not
to go on strike in view of the prevailing heat wave, Mohapatra
said they will be served with show cause notices asking them
to cite the reason for defying the government orders.

He said over 125 doctors of the 159 transferred so far
have already joined at the new places of posting and the rest
were yet to report.

"The doctors who did not join their new places of
posting within next three days will face disciplinary action,"
Mohapatra said.

Condemning the government`s move Orissa Medical
Service Association (OMSA) said the medicos too have the
rights to go on strike after giving prior notice.

"We had given prior notice before going on strike,"
said an OMSA functionary.
