Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday directed the Information and Public Relations Department to make a new advertisement policy for the electronic and print media.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday directed the Information and Public Relations Department to make a new advertisement policy for the electronic and print media.

While reviewing the performance of the I&PR department here, the chief minister also asked to provide health treatment assistance to more number of scribes from the Journalists' Welfare Fund.

He directed the inter-departmental committee headed by Development Commissioner to recommend the possible features of the proposed new advertisement policy and asked the department to make provisions for receiving online applications from journalists and providing financial assistance to them within two months.

In view of the changing situation in the media, Patnaik said, there was need for technical and professional management in the communication network of the I&PR department.

He also said the department should take advantage of the social media in its communication network.
