Bhubaneswar: The dean of students` welfare of a state-run university in Odisha was Thursday relieved of his position after a probe found prima facie that he sexually harassed a girl student, an official said.

Partha Sarathi Mishra of the Ravenshaw University in Cuttack was relieved of his position as students` welfare dean a day after a five-member gender sensitisation panel submitted its report to Vice Chancellor Baishnab Charan Tripathy.
Mishra allegedly proposed marriage to the girl student who came to meet him for some work Feb 1. When the student turned him down, he allegedly molested her and kissed her forcibly.

The panel that probed into the matter said it was likely that the allegation might be true.
The university has advised the student to file a police complaint, Tripathy said.
