"The teenager was suffering from cardiac problem and and was being treated for swine flu in hospital," Health and Family Welfare Minister Prasanna Acharya said.
The 19-year-old had returned from Chennai after a heart check-up, he said.
According to latest report, of the 67 swab samples examined so far, 25 tested positive to the H1N1 virus. Eight persons have died so far, he said.
Meanwhile, the fear of swine flu was visible among the leaders too with Finance Minister Prafulla Ghadai and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister SN Patro attending office wearing masks.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, however, has asked the speople not to panic.
"The situation is being closely monitored. There is no reason to panic," Patnaik told reporters after reviewing the situation.
The School and Mass Education Department has issued a circular to educational institutions asking them to avoid any gathering and isolate children with cold and flu-like
Schools have been asked not to hold gatherings on Independence Day, School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena said.
