Orissa: 3 Maoists arrested, Rs 76 lakh cash seized

Three suspected Maoists including two women cadres were arrested and Rs 76 lakh cash seized from their possession, police said.

Rourkela: Three suspected Maoists including
two women cadres were arrested and Rs 76 lakh cash seized from
their possession, police said on Friday.

DIG (Western Range) YK Jethwa told reporters here that
all three Maoists were top cadres operating in Saranda forests
bordering Orissa`s Sundargarh district and Jharkhand.

The Maoists identified as Prasanta alias Lambu alias
Siba Munda (28), Kiran alias Jina alias Gurubari Tarkot (18),
Sipranti Topno (18) were travelling in a bus when police
intercepted it and arrested them last night, the DIG said.

All three hailed from Jharkhand and were involved in
16 Maoist related incidents in Chandiposh, K Balang, Bisra and
Koida in Sundargarh district besides a number of cases in
Jharkhand, he added.

Prasanta was allegedly the Zonal Committee member
of South Chotnagpur Zone of CPI(Maoists) while Gurubari, a
`commander` of `platoon No 22` and Sipranti an armed cadre
of `platoon No 22.`

They would be produced before a local court tomorrow,
police said.
