Orissa Assembly adjourned for Indo-Lanka world cup match

Orissa MLAs unanimously decided to take a half-day and adjourn the Assembly at lunch break so that they can watch the cricket World Cup finals between India and Sri Lanka.

between India and Sri Lanka.

A motion regarding adjournment of the House ahead of
the scheduled time for the final match was moved by Chief Whip
of the ruling BJD Rabi Narayan Pani and supported by all,
including Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh (Congress).

"As most of the members want suspension of business of
the Assembly during the post-lunch session in order to enable
all to witness the final match, the house is adjourned till
Monday," Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat said.

Earlier, parliamentary affairs minister Raghunath
Mohanty said ruling BJD supports the idea of adjourning the
House for post-lunch session.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had already conveyed his
best wishes for Team India, he said.

Wishing that Sachin Tendulkar scores his 100th
international century in the game, the Leader of Opposition
said, "Good luck Dhoni".
