Police killed two Maoists in an encounter in a forest area near Pottangi in Koraput district of Odisha, and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from them.

Koraput: Police killed two Maoists in an encounter in a forest area near Pottangi in Koraput district of Odisha, and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from them.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Yashbant Jethwa said that the rebels opened fire at the security forces that were on a routine combing operation and in retaliation, the security forces also opened fire in which the Maoists were killed.
"There was an exchange of fire between the District Voluntary Force (DVF) team and the Maoists cadres in the afternoon. During this encounter two Maoists were gunned down. Two dead bodies have been recovered. Two carbines, four magazines and some grenades have also been recover ed from the spot," said Jethwa.
The other Maoists fled the area, leaving behind the bodies of their slain comrades.
