A son and a son-in-law of a seventy-year-old man allegedly beat the septuagenarian to death

Jajpur: A son and a son-in-law of
a seventy-year-old man allegedly beat the septuagenarian to
death, police said on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Hurusikesh Sahoo of Tulati
village under Korei police station limits in the district, had
been staying in his son-in-law’s house at Sadakpur as his son
used to beat and torture him, police said.

Hurusikesh was a street vender in local Jajpur Road
market. He used to sell fast foods there. His lone son
Mahendra Kumar Sahoo, 35, an alleged drug addict was demanding
money from the father. He used to beat his father after being
refused money to buy drug, the police said.

Unable to tolerate torture by his son, Hrushikesh left
his home a couple of days ago and started staying in his
son-in-law`s house since then.

On Thursday night Mahendra allegedly went to his
sister`s house and beat his father mercilessly with Ranjit
Singh, his brother-in-law. The duo shifted the old man to the
nearby government hospital where the doctor declared him
brought dead.

"Being informed by the hospital authorities, we rushed to
the hospital. On interrogation, we found the version of the
son and son-in-law of the deceased was suspicious. Preliminary
investigation indicates that the duo could be the culprit.

However, the police would wait the autopsy report to arrive at
any conclusion," said B.N.Samal, Inspector-in-charge of Korei
police station.
