Three Maoists arrested in Orissa
At least three Maoists were arrested and two guns seized from them by security personnel in separate incidents in Ganjam and Keonjhar district.
Berhampur/Keonjhar (Odisha): At least
three Maoists were arrested and two guns seized from them
today by security personnel in separate incidents in Odisha`s
Ganjam and Keonjhar district, police said.
While one Maoist ultra was arrested in Ganjam
district, the security personnel seized two country made guns
from two other red rebels in Keonjhar district.
The ultra identified as Dhoba Digal (36) of Gajalabadi
village under Sorada police station was arrested in Ganjam
district. He along with other Maoists had set ablaze at least
five mobile towers of private operators, three at his village
and two at nearby Asurabandh on December 16, they said.
Sub divisional police officer, Aska, B K Kamila said
Digal was suspected to be involved in some other Maoist
related incidents in Kandhamal district as well.
However, the matter was under investigation.
Similarly, two red ultras were nabbed in Kaudi forest
bordering Keonjhar-Sundargarh-Angul and Deogarh districts
during combing opeation and as many country made guns were
seized from their possession.
When CRPF, SOG and police personnel from Keonjhar and
Angul were conducting a combing operation in the dense
forests, they pounced upon the duo identified as George Kamal
and Hanukjiban Hangs who belonged to Silukana in Angul
district, police said at Keonjhar.
However, the two claimed before newsmen that they
were not involved in any Maoist activities and had been to the
forests for carrying out poaching.
