Woman scribe molested, cameraman beaten up

A woman television journalist was allegedly molested and a cameraman of a news channel covering the rath yatra festival at the ISKCON Temple here today was beaten up by two policemen who were arrested, police sources said.

channel covering the rath yatra festival at the ISKCON Temple
here today was beaten up by two policemen who were arrested,
police sources said.

"The two personnel of the India Reserve Battalion
(IRB) have been arrested and case registered against them for
outraging the modesty of the woman journalist and attacking
the cameraman," Inspector-in-Charge of Nayapalli police
station, Tapan Mohanty said.

The incident took place when the deities at the ISKCON
Temple were being carried in a procession to the chariot for
the annual car festival.

When she complained of molestation and the cameraman
protested he was beaten up by the two policemen, the woman
journalist said.

She lodged an FIR at Nayapalli police station.

The two were identified as Nrushingha Sahu and
Manoranjan Behera, the sources said.

A case has been registered against them section 323
(voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 354
(outraging the modesty of a woman), 427 (mischief causing
damage), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention)
of IPC.
