"Blind people do not get jobs in Orissa"

Berhampur: Few visually impaired persons are able to get employment in government and other sectors in Orissa, eminent citizens said in a seminar on Sunday.

"It is high time reservation for visually impaired persons in government jobs is strictly followed as many educated blind people do not get jobs in the state," noted advocate Niranjan Nayakhe said.

Principal of Lingaraj Law College Jugal Kishor highlighted various opportunities where blind persons could work efficiently like people with normal health.

Employment opportunities for the blind are now not limited to the field of education. Scopes are many for them in the area of digital technology, Prabir Kumar Pradhan, a blind computer instructor said.

The speakers included academicians, advocates, social activists and educated blind at a seminar organised by Milton Charitable Foundation for the Visually Handicapped.
