Bhubaneswar: With one more person succumbing to dengue, the toll in the mosquito-borne disease in Orissa rose to 24 Wednesday, official sources said.

The fresh casualty was reported from a private hospital in the state capital. The diseased belonged to the worst-affected Angul district, they said.

Of the 24 dengue victims, 19 alone belong to the coal belt in Angul, while the rest five hail from Balangir, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara, Jharsuguda and Deogarh districts each, health department officials said.

Till Wednesday a total of 912 samples have been found positive out of total 2521 samples tested. The virus has spread in 22 of the 30 districts of the state, they said.

Most of the dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, sources said.
