Bhubaneshwar: In a major haul, Orissa police have recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from the Maoist infested Koraput district on Friday.

According to Zee News reports, police recovered landmines, tiffin bombs and forty walky-talkies from a jungle in the district.

Apart from that, police also recovered one tonne of gunpowder and approximately 50 litres of liquid explosives from the jungle.

Reports also suggest that the ammunition might belong to the active Naxal outfits of the state and was reportedly brought here to fight the security forces.

It should be noted that ever since the joint forces killed top Maoist leader Mollajulla Koteswar Rao alias Kishanji in a fierce gunbattle in a forest in West Midnapore district of West Bengal on November 24, the Naxals are vying for revenge. This ammunition haul is widely linked with their plan to a big scale retaliation.
