One more mine 'mafia' held in Sundargarh

Rourkela: An alleged mine mafia and his manager were arrested from Ganua in Sundargarh district, police said Thursday.

With the arrest of Abdul Bari, police have so far nabbed two mafia and 16 others allegedly involved in illegal mines business from Koida during past four months.

Police had earlier arrested Ganesh Jaiswal, another 'mine mafia', a week ago.

On a tip off, police raided Ganua area and nabbed Bari, who had been a butcher till 2003, and his manager Sarat Pati with 25 tonnes of illegally raised iron ore yesterday.

The raid was also carried out at Bari's iron ore processing plant at Sargigara in Koida block.

Both Bari and his manager were produced before a court which remanded them to judicial custody.
